
Last night I applied the rough under-painting to my latest WIP. The first coat always seems like a chore. It really bares little resemblence to the final product, serving only as a rough base to apply the 'meat' of the painting on. I've included a pic here of the under-painting. It's intentionally small, as the under-painting is as 'rough as guts'.

Sheese, even in basic blocking in, you seem to manage to apply your tones and values accurately. Another brilliant painting in the making.
I hear what you're saying about the first coat being a chore; I am regularly impatient to get to the really bold darks and the exciting highlights.
