Hey Daniel. This has turned out great. I thought the pressure or jinx was on a bit with all the blogging and media attention! But you've come up with the goods. After all this work though try your best to not take it personally if you don't get hung. The Archibald is a REALLY tough nut to crack, even for those who occasionally get in, there are no certainties and you really are up against the best. So not to dampen your spirits, I really hope you get in and wish you the best for it. There is always the Salon too which is not to be sneezed at. Good Luck!
Simon - Thanks, I'm so glad you like it. Yeah, I know the odds of getting in are as slim as an Olsen twin - so I wont be crushed if I don't get in. I just did it so I could say I gave it a go I guess... I'm just glad the painting is done - I can take a breath!
Actually you might be able to help me - who would you recommend I courier the work to NSW with? And what's the standard practice with packing the work for shipping?
I'd first try http://iasdas.com.au/ and http://www.woollahraartremovals.com.au/services.htm asking if they are servicing Archibald entries. I've never sent a painting larger than Australia Post size interstate. There are others I'm sure.
Daniel's works explore contemporary subjects and themes. They are predominantly figurative with much emphasis on mood and feeling. Daniel strives to forge strong connections between work and viewer, allowing the viewer to invest their emotion within his art. He achieves this with such devices as the subtlety of a subject’s gaze, body language and lighting.
Daniel studied Graphic Design at Charles Sturt University and has a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. Daniel has also studied at Melbourne School of Art and Swinburne University.
