So nearly there!

I had a most productive painting session last night. The portrait is so very nearly done. I just have to apply the text on the can and I'm done. Sounds easy, though it's going to be so damn fiddly - To paint text that resembles printed text is quite a challenge. Maybe I can just write the text using a label maker and slap it on:) Anyway you'll all see the painting very very soon..

More Progress

Ok, I'm very nearly finished my painting. Hopefully during the week I'll have a pic of the finished product posted. I need to apply some detail to a couple of items in the painting and then I'm done! whoohooo!

Santo just called me about 5 minutes ago - The Herald Sun article is all systems go. We're doing the photo and interview the first week of Feb - I better get my arse into gear and finish soon!

Santo update..

Last night I spent about 2 hours going over Mick. He still needs some more work - though I need to wait for him to dry before slapping on more detail. He's a tricky one to paint, as he needs to be slightly our of focus and dimly lit. Tonight I plan to focus on the background. I've already done a couple of rough layers - now it's time to build up the detail. The background is simple red curtains. Though they're extremely dark (almost black in parts) with random highlights. I wont post another pic of the painting until nearly done - there has to be some surprise:)

I bought this fantastic piece last week painted by Dianne Gall. It's so wonderfully intricate in it's detail and a joy to look at. Thanks Dianne:)

Getting hot again..

Unfortunately it's going to be bloody hot today and tomorrow - which means a boiling studio. I may have to leave the painting until Saturday - we'll see how the temp goes..

Getting there...

I am slaving away with this painting - it's getting closer by the day. I really want ot get it finished by the end of Jan - So I have about 3 weeks left.

update...

Still a mass or work to be done.... I wont show you mick yet - not until he's a bit more detailed. Santo's face has recieved most of my attention - his body/clothing will get a massive helping of detail this week...
