Dr Sketchy

Last night I enjoyed a much needed session of Dr Sketchy. I hadn't been for a few months, so my drawings were very much more miss than hit. One of the sketches was to be based on ancient Egypt - so I went a little nuts...

Wow!

I came across this clip today via the Australian Art Forum. I was just totally blown away! It was created by an interactive artist by the name of Daniel Rozin. Take a look and let me know what you think - personally I want one at home:)

Whoosh! - Updated

Seems to be come confusion with image above - it's not a painting:) It's just an image to accompany post..

I managed to get some painting in last night. It was one of those great painting sessions where a few hours literally whooshed by without notice. These are by far the most productive sessions (well for me anyway). I get so focussed and into the painting I almost go into automatic pilot. After a few hours (which seem like mere minutes) I stand back and think Did I just do that? Wish it would happen more often:)

Balance

Trying to Balance a full time job with Freelance work and most importantly painting can be quite the task. I think I'm coping alright, though it does have it's moments. Painting is one of those things that requires the right state of mind. Trying to schedule painting times in advance can backfire big time. That bloody right state of mind can quickly leave town and wont come back until you least expect it. If I don't feel up to painting I simply wont, as I know the painting will suffer as a consequence.

A Blurry, Noisy, Discoloured Glimpse...

I'm still painting like mad, and am STILL yet to find the battery charger for my camera. So I took a crappy pic with my phone camera to show these paintings do exist! Here's part of a WIP - excuse the discolouration, pixelation, noise and blurriness:)

Printed

I've just discovered a work of mine has appeared in Home Beautiful Magazine. Quite a nice surprise and great to see where my painting now lives:) A great painting by my friend Michelle Giacobello also appears in this pic.

Progress

The works I'm doing for Manyung are quite detailed pieces and consequently bloody time consuming:) I'm enjoying the process immensely, though they demand much of my time as each painting requires countless thin layer upon layer of subtle detail. I did quite a bit of work on them during the weekend and will post some pics when closer to completion. These pieces aren't in my usual style as they're quite whimsical and detailed - will share soon..

Afternoon well spent!

Yesterday afternoon was a blast. I had the privilege of being invited down to Working Dog studios for a catchup with Santo and to watch them film The Hollowmen. Michael Hirsh gave me the grand tour and introduced me to most of the cast including Rob Sitch and Lachy Hulme. It was interesting to see how the actors worked as Lachy seem to stay in character off camera also - took me a while to realize this:). The set consisted of corridors and offices based on existing rooms from parliament House. I was also taken up to the editing suite where I watched put a scene together - very interesting to watch. So yeah, It was a great afternoon:)
