Last night I applied the rough under-painting to my latest WIP. The first coat always seems like a chore. It really bares little resemblence to the final product, serving only as a rough base to apply the 'meat' of the painting on. I've included a pic here of the under-painting. It's intentionally small, as the under-painting is as 'rough as guts'.
Sheese, even in basic blocking in, you seem to manage to apply your tones and values accurately. Another brilliant painting in the making.
ReplyDeleteI hear what you're saying about the first coat being a chore; I am regularly impatient to get to the really bold darks and the exciting highlights.
